PROFILE

EFFENDI is an independent jazz label founded in April 1999 by Carole Therrien and Alain Bédard. Today, EFFENDI ranks among the most important jazz labels in Canada. In the space few years EFFENDI has taken its place in the vanguard, helping an increasing number of artists to fulfill their musical projects.

EFFENDI has had the opportunity to work with over 70 percent of Québec's best jazz musicians. The majority of artists on EFFENDI are pillars of their art, bold and resolute musicians, rising stars of jazz. This central core of musicians expands to include some 125 jazz artists of international calibre.

EFFENDI worked with : Frédéric Alarie, Greg Amirault, Steve Amirault, Alain Bédard, Jean-Christophe Béney, Gilles Bernard, Rémi Bolduc, François Bourassa, Michel Côté, Alexandre Côté, Pierre De Bethmann, Michel Donato, Thom Gossage, Christine Jensen, Karl Jannuska, Norman Lachapelle, André Leroux, Yves Léveillé, Frank Lozano, Jocelyn Ménard, Joel Miller, Sylvain Provost, Min Rager, Sage Reynolds, François Richard, Yannick Rieu, John Roney, Joe Sullivan, François Théberge, Baptiste Trotignon, Jean Vanasse, Jean-Pierre Zanella, Coco Zhao to name but a few.

From May 2000 to the present, EFFENDI CDs have received numerous nominations for a number of different prizes such as: OPUS, FÉLIX, JUNO, ECMA, CHOC Jazzman, NJA, Victoires, and Django d'Or, among others. Out of these nominations, 30 were declared winners in their categories.

EFFENDI CDs are produced thanks to funding provided by the artists, SODEC, Musicaction, FACTOR and the Canada Council for the Arts.

EFFENDI also distributes albums by independent labels: Richard Gagnon Productions, Round Records (CA), AGA Records (FRA), Propella Records (QC), L'Institut Sexoacoustical (QC), Altrisuoni (SUI), Mythology Records (US), Waza Productions (CA)
