Annie Poulain is a singer who works her magic through the media of jazz and the French language. To this mix, she brings her own special alto voice, a voice which lends its own distinctive sound to her recordings. Annie has a special reverence for the music and poetry of her native tongue and takes great pleasure in crafting the lyrics and arrangements of her pieces with the sonority of the French language.
Originally formed in the fall of 2008, Atomic 5 had already toured across Quebec and Ontario, opened for internationally acclaimed Cuban pianist Omar Sosa, and played an exciting performance at the 30th annual Montreal International Jazz Festival for an audience of over 4,000 people.
Originally from Vancouver Island, BC, Becky Noble is a Montreal-based saxophonist, composer/arranger, and educator. She holds a bachelor of music (jazz performance) from McGill University, and has also studied at the Banff Centre for the Arts.
Guitarist Carl Naud was born in the Lac St-Jean region of Québec. After studying jazz and pop music at Alma CEGEP, he went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance from the Université de Montréal. He has studied under such renowned musicians as guitarists Richard Ring, Reno De Stefano and Michael Pucci, drummer Richard Provençal and pianist Pierre Leduc.
