« 4 rue Durocher » is my personal journey of these last few years. It counts 7 pieces alluding to familiar places and people I love, composed in the form of a song. This is the quest for a new sound, a contemporary touch, the exploration of new horizons, a turning point…
Along with me, you will find on this album my friend and accomplice of more than 40 years, bass player Pierre Coté, and also young and talented musicians influenced by today’s music, tenor saxophonist Thiago Ferté, born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as well as drum player Louis-Vincent Hamel, born in Quebec City.
This intergenerational and cultural symbiosis is added to a fusion of styles and genres that, on the album, cross and untie each other in complete freedom. « 4 rue Durocher » is part of a process that, while wanting to push the limits of JAZZ, respects its deepest roots.
