In Quebec the term « malcommode » could be translated as “little troublemaker”. The moniker is mostly used in a positive sense, for instance when joking around with children. LES MALCOMMODES live up to their name in creating a music that seduces with its dynamic freshness, sensitive spontaneity, surprising originality and contagious humour. In keeping with this spirit, all the music of the album was recorded live, without amplification, separation or headphones. Over half of the tracks on this first release are “one-takes.” Bassist Daniel Lessard, who is also a formidable pianist, and percussionist Pierre Tanguay are pillars of the Canadian jazz scene. Félix Stüssi who also leads a sextet with guest star Ray Anderson on trombone, really enjoys the freedom and stimulating energy of his new, audacious trio!
Piano: Félix Stüssi
