Active musician on the Montreal jazz scene for over 25 years, trombonist Richard Gagnon takes part of the Montreal Jazz scene for many years with the Vic Vogel Big Band, Guy Nadon, Lorraine Desmarais, JazzLab, Jo Sullivan Big Band as well as his own group, the Richard Gagnon Trombones Actions.
With a solid experience in many music styles, over the years Richard played with many groups, La Bottine Souriante, Aretha Franklin, Dixieland band to name a few. In 1998, the Richard Gagnon Jazz Quintette was born, a group for which he wrote and arranged most part of its repertoire. In February 2000, he produced À cœur ouvert the first CD of the Quintet, and in June 2002, he presented his second CD, Influence,(XXI-21 Records). In October 2006, Richard Gagnon presents its third CD, « INTRO » with is ensemble Trombones Actions. In 2008 he won the Prix Opus for best jazz concert of the year 2007 and was nominated in 2009 for the same price. The 26 of march 2010 He’s launching is 4th CD with Trombones Actions + Steve Davis (La Suite).
